The Information and Communication Technology Department is a key service
department in the University and its mission is to promote the development
of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at Africa University
in order to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and responsiveness
of the University administrative and academic departments, improve teaching/learning
and research so that the institution may be recognized as a leading
teaching/learning and research centre.
Services
The
purpose of the Department is also to spearhead the implementation of
the objectives as set out in the ICT Strategic Plan.
The Information
and Communication Technology Department is responsible for :
training
users, supporting
maintaining
computer applications and the network
giving
information technology-related advice to the university community
maintaining
computer equipment
documenting
system procedures
ensuring
there are efficient back up measures for systems
ensuring
security and avilability of data, formulating
implementing
policies regarding use of university computer equipment and software
keeping
the university informed of technology trends.
