INTRODUCTION
Africa University’s Bachelor of Science degree (B.Sc.) in Agriculture
and Natural Resources is a unique blend of theory, practical training
and exposure to continental issues. The FANR programme prepares young
women and men for careers and contributions in agricultural production,
processing, marketing, policy, management, teaching, development and service.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the Africa University
seeks to promote a holistic approach to life and recognize the sacredness
of our environment. It intends to achieve this by establishing a dynamic
community of learning committed to teaching, research and extension that
addresses the challenges of food production to meet the nutrition requirements
in Africa, encourage income generation to improve the quality of life
of current and future generations through improved agricultural practices
and the sustainable management of natural resources.
GOALS

Preparing men and women for careers and contributions in agricultural
production, processing, marketing, policy, management, teaching, research,
development and service.

Bring its expertise to bear on rural and urban development through teaching,
research, extension and outreach.

Creating an understanding of a holistic, integrated systems approach
to agriculture and related resource management.

Complementing and supplementing learning opportunities of students and
faculty in universities, colleges and other training institutions.

Addressing issues of equity and poverty reduction through actions, which
affirm the importance of small-scale farmers and other disadvantaged
groups, recognizing gender.
- ·Graduating
students who have an appropriate balance between theory and practical
application of knowledge and entrepreneurial skills.

Developing a training process which will produce moral and ethical graduates
who possess a willingness to respond to the needs and welfare of people.
