The Public Sector Management Training Programme (PSMTP) is an innovative Master’s degree in Public Sector Management. The PSMTP falls under the Faculty of Management and Administration (FMA) and is offered in partnership with the Institute of Peace Leadership and Governance (IPLG).It is funded by the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) and Africa University is one of the four institutions of higher learning in Africa that were selected to implement the programme. The first cohort graduated in June 2007 and consisted of 25 graduates from Malawi, Kenya, Uganda, Swaziland, Zambia, Lesotho, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe. The second cohort commenced classes in August 2007 with 29 participants from Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland, Ethiopia, Zambia, Tanzania, Botswana and Zimbabwe. The programme was designed to help equip African countries with a critical mass of public sector managers with the skills and competences to enable the continent to meet its development challenges.
