FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION
(a) Undergraduate Programmes
The Faculty offers 4-year Bachelor’s degree programmes in Accounting (B. Acc),
Economics (BSc. Econ), Business Studies (BBS) and Computer and Information Systems
(BSc CIS). Students electing the Business Studies option may major in Management or
Marketing. Students are generally admitted into the Faculty and not into any specific
major. Admission into any one chosen Faculty major depends on the student’s performance
in all the first year foundation courses and the Dean’s approval.
Admission Requirements
(i) Normal Entry:
Five credit passes at GCE Ordinary Level or equivalent including English Language
and Mathematics with passes at C or better grades.
Passes in at least two GCE Advanced Level in Business-related subjects (including
the one the applicant intends to major in) from the following list: Accounts,
Management of Business, Economics, Commerce; Mathematics. The faculty
will not normally accept GCE A-level results below 10 points
International students possessing acceptable and verifiable certificates valid for
entry in their own universities.
(ii) Special Mature Entry
Applicants with approved diplomas in Management-related subjects e.g. Zimbabwe Association
of Accounting Technicians (ZAAT), Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA),
Higher National Diploma (HND), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA),
Chartered Institute of Secretaries (CIS), and Diploma in Business Administration (DBA)
may be considered for admission. Some course exemptions are possible under this entry,
with the Dean’s approval.
(b) Graduate Programmes
The Faculty of Management and Administration offers an 18 months full-time Master of Business
Administration (MBA) degree with specialization in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, and
Management. The Faculty also offers an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA)
degree on a modular basis on selected weekends. The minimum required period to complete
the EMBA degree is 2½ years and the maximum is 4 years.
Admission Requirements
Applicants to both the MBA and the EMBA must satisfy the following requirements:
A good first degree of Africa University or of a university recognized by the Senate
of Africa University or a professional qualification obtained by formal study and
examination and recognized as a degree equivalent by the Senate of Africa University.
Competence in basic Mathematics should be not below GCE Ordinary Level;
EMBA applicants must also have; at least, four years post qualification experience in
a managerial position.
In exceptional cases, students possessing other tertiary educational qualifications
besides these specified above and with a good track record of managerial and
entrepreneurial experience may be considered for admission.
N.B MBA intake is in January of every year.
