SADC Games win for FMA staffer

Cleopatra Zulu, a secretary in the Faculty of Managment & Administration, won a silver award in the Women’s 4x100 relay at the Southern Africa Universities Staff Sports Association Games , held from 10-16 December in South Africa.
Africa University ’s net ball and darts teams reached the semi-finals of the event, which was held at North West University in Mafikeng, South Africa .
Chenjerai Tanyongana, AU’s director of sports said he was impressed by the teams’ performance and dedication. “Regrettably, due to some irregularities, the games did not reach the finals, otherwise, we could have proved our mettle,” he said.
The South African event was Cleopatra Zulu’s first appearance at a regional meet. Zulu , a former member of the Zimbabwe Universities’ relay team, says she has always been a keen athlete. “For a long time, district and provincial levels have been my turf, but through this award, I plan to feature more in regional games,” she said.
The SADC games featured teams from the University of Zimbabwe, National University of Science and Technology, Midlands State University, Chinhoyi University of Technology as well as universities from Botswana, Lesotho , Malawi, Namibia and Swaziland.
