THE GOLD-WING PROJECT
Located at Redwing Mine just outside Mutare, this group comprises of 35 women who are wives of mine workers. The main activities being undertaken are garment sewing, peanut butter manufacturing and poultry. The sewing machines (3) being used here are owned by individuals and are inadequate for them to supply and honour the contracts they have acquired with crèches and primary schools in the Penhalonga area. The little money
they contribute to the club is inadequate to source raw materials, buy
stock feed as well as to capitalize their projects. Therefore, the main
area of intervention would be in terms of financing the purchase of
sewing machines and peanut butter making machines which they are currently
outsourcing, or alternatively, finding organizations which can donate
such machinery to them. Contact
