Welcome

This site has been set up to give a forum for the corporate world to fight cholera in Zimbabwe. This can only be done by directing our efforts towards eradicating the challenges noted above. The Africa University SIFE team has entered an agreement with the Ministry of Health, Mutare Province to source funding for cholera eradication through supporting field teams that are working directly with the affected citizens. Please join the effort by contributing today and help save lives.

The map shown on this page shows the focus points were cholera was first detected Zimbabwe. The Ministry of Health in Zimbabwe has reported a total of 11 735 cholera cases with 484 deaths since August 2008 as at 1 December 2008. Various challenges have already been encountered by the Ministry in fighting cholera. Some of the challenges are listed below: Inadequate transport to affected areas, Shortages of medical resources to fight the disease, Resistance emanating from cultural and religious biases, Understaffing, (most cholera centres in Manicaland have staff working for 24hrs nonstop, with little food and in some cases no running water). No incentives for medical owing to budgetary constraints.
