The Africa University Counseling and Career Services Unit is committed to emotional, psychological, and spiritual wellness of students and Africa University Community as a whole. The Counseling Unit offers a range of psychological, counseling and career services for students. No health without mental health.

Mission Statement

The Africa University Counseling and Career Services facilitates individual wellness, growth and development to our AU students and staff through a broad range of psychological, counseling and career services to help students and staff positively address personal, interpersonal ,vocational and academic issues.

Self- referral, friends, Clinic Nurses , Doctor, Chaplain , Dean of Students, Wardens , and other staff, Vice Chancellor and DVC, Registrar , Academic Registrar, parents and family.

Confidentiality Counseling at the unit is confidential. The Counseling Unit does not release information about a student or staff without that student/ staff’s written permission. In all individual and group services the counseling unit strives to create an environment where everyone feels welcome, safe and revitalized.

Personal Concerns such as :

Stress , grief and bereavement issues, family problems, academic struggles, sexuality issues , self-esteem, sleeping problems, studying problems etc.

Interpersonal Issues such as:

Effective Communication skills, dating and relationship issues, stress, conflict and anger management skills, negotiation skills , problem solving , decision making and others.

Psychological Issues such as:

Depression, anxiety, suicidality, post-traumatic stress issues, substance misuse/abuse, and others.

Crisis intervention Services such as:

Acute stress, assaults (sexual, physical, emotional), bereavement counseling and disciplinary issues.
